Eli Savoie

Eli Savoie, Weekdays, 7-10a

Eli began his radio career during his college days and since then he has been around the Midwest in several markets before coming to Sports 56 WHBQ in March of 2003. He now serves as Program Director for the station and is co-host of Sports 56 Mornings from 7-10am with Greg Gaston. Eli is also the play-by-play announcer for Christian Brothers high school football broadcasts and the 2005-2008 Conference USA men’s basketball tournaments. He has also filled in as play-by-play announcer for Ole Miss men's and women's basketball and Memphis Redbirds baseball.

Eli first got behind the microphone during his days at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he served as the radio play-by-play voice of the men’s basketball team and the television voice of the women’s team. After college, Eli spent nearly two years at KFNS radio in St. Louis where he served as a reporter/producer for various shows, while co-hosting shows focusing on local high school and college sports. The St. Louis Cardinals and Rams were among the beats covered by Eli while at KFNS. He also served as color analyst and sideline announcer for the Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament.

After leaving St. Louis, Eli spent one year as a sports announcer at KTTR-KZNN in Rolla, Missouri, before moving on to Webster City, Iowa where he served as program director/sports director for KQWC radio. While there, he was the play-by-play announcer for all of the stations high school sports coverage and was the co-host of the station’s morning show and sports anchor for daily newscasts. Eli also covered the Iowa State Cyclones football and basketball teams for the station.
